Reviews for Tail Gators On The River
Review highlights
Based on 94 reviewsTail Gators On The River is widely praised for its warm, friendly service and inviting riverside ambiance, making it a popular spot for both family dining and casual gatherings. Reviewers frequently highlight the attentive staff who enhance the overall experience. The menu offers a variety of dishes, with particular acclaim for their seafood options such as fish bites and fish tacos, as well as burgers with fresh, flavorful ingredients. While many find the food enjoyable and well-prepared, some guests note inconsistencies, particularly with side items like fries and occasional issues with certain appetizers. Despite these minor critiques, the combination of great service and a relaxed atmosphere consistently draws positive feedback and repeat visits.
First visit since the renaming. Love the riverside location next to the train tracks. The service was spectacular, and the food was great. For appetizers, we had delicious nachos that weren’t too filling. Our main dishes were fish tacos and fish bites—both very good, though the tacos were a bit messy. The side of fries paired perfectly with the fish bites, along with a very good homemade tartar sauce. Overall, I'd give it a 4.4 and will definitely return to try more dishes.
The service was GREAT! However, I was not impressed with the food. Our fries were cold, but the waitress got us some fresh ones. Then, they were too salty, but we decided not to send them back for fear of what we would get next. My sister ordered the boudin egg rolls and received a mixture of boudin and regular egg rolls. However, she said the fish bites were great! My wings were awful. I had the hot lemon pepper. There was nothing hot about them. They would've been really bland had I not asked for extra lemon pepper. My nachos were good, could've used more cheese and if I ever go back there again, I would ask them to leave the lettuce off next time.
Friendly staff, good good. The burger was really good. Nice homemade patty. Jalapeno bun was fresh and delicious. Fried jalapenos were nice on the burger. Not very hot. Bacon was cooked nicely.
Food was amazing. We went out with friends for my boyfriends birthday and the singer who was amazing came up and sang him a birthday song. I've never seen a more friendly group of servers. Its rare to find a place where the food is amazing and the people are as well. I'll definitely be going back and recommending others as well.
What a great place to chill and watch some football Our server was amazing and made us feel like we were her ONLY customers. If you are lucky enough to get Hannah as your server, YOU will be very well taken care of!!! The food came out hot and everything we ordered was amazing.
First time in Monroe Louisiana! Is it pronounced Mun-row or Mawn-row… I guess we’ll never Mon-KNOW! Ok anyways this was a restaurant that caught my traveling group’s eyes as it had great reviews and a fun seating situation (outside right on the river) and it was one of the only restaurants near our hotel that was actually open! We decided to try the alligator bites because WHEN IN ROME right?? Anyways they kind of taste like chicken with a little fishy taste at the end which was kind of fun but also what. But the fish tacos which I ordered were amazing! So good and yummy and honestly a good amount of food. There’s a train bridge that goes across the river right next to the bridge and gets loud at times but have you ever met a quiet train?? Yeah that’s what I thought… The outdoor seating had fans so we stayed cool and felt cool as we ate and watched an awesome photoshoot right on the river with someone who was very clearly an important influencer/celebrity. Grateful for this restaurant and the amazing service that accompanied it! Try the alligator bites! Just to say you did (that’s what I did).
I ordered takeout from this restaurant, which has a clean setup and a unique, welcoming vibe. The food was flavorful and clearly made with care. However, hot items are packed in clam shells and then sealed in tied plastic bags, which traps steam. Even a short delay can leave the food soggy. For a place with such good food, this packaging method undercuts the quality. Switching to paper bags or simply not tying the plastic would help preserve the texture and ensure takeout customers enjoy the food as intended.
The good. Catfish bites are off the hook. So yum. Prices are very reasonable and there is plenty of food. The staff is friendly and attentive. The bad, it's already worn out, bar stools are loose, wobbly, and sticky.
